Fondmetal Technologies (in short FondTech) is a private company established in Casumaro (Ferrara, Italy) since 1993 by Jean-Claude Migeot, former Ferrari and Tyrrell F1 Head of Aerodynamics, to provide racing car aerodynamic consultancy and wind tunnel testing services. After having built a second and more performing wind tunnel in 2006, named FT2, FondTech headquarters in Casumaro now feature two wind tunnel facilities cover an area of about 10600 m2, including model-shop, technical and administrative offices.
As of January 1st 2013 FondTech and Aerolab have merged. Aerolab was a company established in 2003 and previously owned by FondTech, which provided the same expertise and services than FondTech thanks to a FondTech-built wind tunnel similar in design to the recent FT2.
The former Aerolab premises, now FondTech’s second site, are located in Sant’Agata Bolognese, about 35 km away from Casumaro.
FondTech customers are mainly cars manufacturers and racing teams competing in world’s leading racing car series and events. FondTech offers technical expertise and capacities including, among others, wind tunnel scale model design and manufacturing and aerodynamic development of formula type and closed wheels cars.
FondTech services range from the basic rental of wind tunnel testing time to the management and implementation of a wind tunnel based aerodynamic development programme. The latter might include designing and building a scale model of the racing vehicle and designing, building and testing a very large number of different model configurations over a certain number of sessions.
Proper planning and monitoring of the process, fast and high-quality execution of the activities within each department and prompt reaction to customer requests are the key factors that have allowed FondTech to always achieve significant results within extremely demanding time scale.
